Zaidu and a couple of his men took their reserved seats in the front of the arena while Gypsy and the group sat a row behind them. The three women scanned the area and attempted to locate their target but to no avail. Unexpectedly, the ring announcer stepped into the ring and took center stage within the dome steel cage.
Pretzel, who stood a few feet from the team with a blade in her hand, turned to Gypsy and mouthed, âWhat do I do?â
The Warrior shrugged and mouthed, âFight.â
âLadies and Gentlemen, welcome to tonightâs main event,â the official announced, which produced thundering cheers from the audience. âA spectacle to be a rememberedâa bout to the death.â The last phrase made the shouts of the throng louder.
âThe challenger, from across the Atlantic Ocean, the United Kingdom, Sheba the Fearsome!â The crowds shouted as Pretzel took the ring.
âReturning to the ring is our one and only, Angelica the Utukku Killer.â
As soon as Gypsy saw Angelica walk into the fighting cage with her head down, she squeezed Crystalâs knee. The woman took a small black box with a red button from her pocket and pressed it.
The announcer ran out of the ring and Angelica raised her head and focused on her opponent. Her expression froze in disbelief. âPretzel?â she exclaimed.
Pretzel automatically took a fighting stance and began to circle her. âThis is hard to explain but we need to fight.â
âWhat?â She stood motionless. âI donât want what to fight you.â
The other girl slashed half-heartedly at her. âThis is a rescue.â
âQue rescate. What? A rescue? Youâre trying to hurt me.â She dropped her blade. âI know you are upset with me but I wonât fight you.â
âPlease pick the blade up,â Pretzel pleaded. âWe have to keep appearances up until law enforcement arrives.â
âLaw enforcement? What the hell is going on?â
The other girlâs eyes caught sight of Zaiduâs suspicious expression. âIâm sorry about this.â She punched Angelica squarely in the face.
âDemonios!â Angelica scowled indignantly at her. âYou hit me!â
âI know. Now hit me back or weâre both doomed!â
Angelica stared at the crowd and noticed Gypsy gesturing with her hands to fight. âGypsyâsheâs alive!â Joy and confusion washed over her at the same time. Finally, the situation became clear to her and without warning, she rushed forward and hurled her opponent off her feet.
Both Daughters landed with a loud grunt while the crowds stood and cheered.
âOkay? That was a little hard,â Pretzel said with a groan.
She rolled onto her stomach and tried to stand, but Angelica jumped on her back, pinned her down. âLaw enforcement! Agent Ortega! Heâs coming to rescue us, correct?â
Pretzel nodded. âEasy with the arm there,â she muttered, her face against the ground.
âSorry.â She loosened her hold. âHow long do we need to keep this up?â
âI donât know. This fight wasnât part of the plan.â Pretzel drew a deep breath. âMy apologies, but we have to keep the show going.â She flipped and shoved the other girl off her. It was her turn to pin Angelica down.
